Moxie Fab World – The Gift Packaging Challenge

Another great challenge celebrating PaperCraft’s 350 Cards & Gift issue is Moxie Fab World’s The Gift Packaging Challenge!  This challenge is open till June 3, so jump on in and join the fun! For more information on the challenge, please click on the following image –

For this challenge, I upcycled some left over 10″ (unused!) doilies to create a great little gift pouch!  I find that these doilies made by Hygloss (and found at  http://www.misterart.com) are great for creating these spur-of-the-moment gift bags as I always have ribbon and tape on hand, and that’s all you need for creating the basic bag — then, you can use whatever else you have on hand to embellish!  Here are the doilies (the picture says 4″, but they come in 4″, 6″, 8″ and 10″ sizes), click on the image to get to the listing at MisterArt for more information –

Here is a gift bag I made, including little clear stamps sets, to give as a gift for a baby shower. Great for friends and family who are also crafters! Of course, the bag is sturdy enough for other small items such as gift cards, sample-sized toiletries, cookies, etc.

ImageTo create this bag is fairly simple – you will need  2 of the doilies – one for each side of the bag. For each doily – carefully fold in half to align the designs on the edges — then, run double-sided tape on the solid circle portion of the doily on the inside – then press together. After you have done each of the 2 doilies – you should have 2 folded over, taped halves.  Doing this helps to reinforce the sides and gives stability to the holes in the doily design that you are now going to thread 1/8″ ribbon through.

Align both halves together and thread 1/8″  ribbon through the design on both sides, completely around the perimeter. Tie off. This creates the handle for one side of the package.  I, then cut a shorter piece of ribbon, and tie just through the top holes on the back half to create another handle. Now, embellish!

I embellished with some leftover feathers from a prior project and stamped sentiments from Whimsy Stamps Welcome Baby Sentiments set, which I stamped with Hero Arts Neon Pink ink. Here is the set from Whimsy Stamps –

Take care all!  Hugs!
