A Die-cut Christmas

Howdy folks!  It’s been a long while since I posted last.  Too many challenges with health and well-being, along with the great planning and excitement of my oldest son’s graduation from college! 🙂  I can’t tell you enough about how proud I am of his accomplishments!  He has a job lined up – 2 days after graduation – and starts in January 2015.

Since I have a bunch of pictures of the cards I made for this Christmas – I will list supplies for all of them at the end of this post.  I tried to remember everything I used, but I may have missed something – so if you have any questions, please leave me a comment, and I will try to address it as soon as I can.

While I own more stamps than any one woman should have, I also am in the same predicament with steel dies.  I love, love, love them!  The front of all the cards were done solely with dies – with the exception of one card.  All of the insides of the cards, however, do have stamped sentiments (from Penny Black’s Christmas Cheer stamp set).

Without further ado ….

I used really pretty shimmer cardstock and the pictures do not do them justice!  Even the shimmer from the Zig’s Wink of Stella pen does not show well in these pictures.  I guess I need to invest in a better camera – these are taken from a little digital camera — any recommendations?  I hear the DSLR cameras are great.   Any thoughts about the  Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR?  I noticed the reviews on Amazon are great (and the prices for the camera and accessories packages are dropping).

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and pray for better health and happiness for the rest of this year and in 2015!  Don’t be a stranger! 🙂

Hugs,

Stephanie

OCC Summer Camp 2 – Week 1, Day 2, Card 2

I’m back!  Needing to make another card – this one is for my soon-to-be 22 year old son’s birthday – I thought I could whack two birds with one stone, so to speak – a birthday card for my son that also fit the requirements of one of today’s lessons!  However, this really ended up to be an exercise in problem fixing – as you will soon see what I mean!

I was doing the multi-inking technique for my card, actually finishing the card, thinking “oh this turned out great!” – THEN, I took a picture.  If you take pictures of your cards then you know that the picture shows EVERY LITTLE FLAW!!! lol  Here’s the picture, of what I thought was a finished card —

ImageApparently, I did not ink up the “Let’s Celebrate” very well.  So, I was going to stamp back over it, which would be easy enough as it is a clear stamp.  Just as I was going down to press, my hands tremored (good ol’ Multiple Sclerosis!) and this is what I ended up with —

ImageNot so pretty, huh?  Well, I wasn’t going to let all that great cardstock, ink and effort go to waste – so, I came up with a “fix” — I re-stamped the sentiment on a seperate piece of cardstock and die cut it out with a Spellbinders die from the A2 Matting Basics B die set. I inked the edges to add some definition to the shape. Then, I popped it up with dimensional foam tape.  I wanted to be able to read the sentiment above and below it, so I went with the smallest rectangle that would fit the sentiment.  I actually like this look better! Here it is –

ImageSo what do you all think?  I appreciate any feedback or other fix strategies! 🙂  Have a wonderful day! Hugs!

Manly Music Card

A friend of mine is turning 60, and both he and his wife are very talented musicians! Here is the card I made him, with a peek of the envelope I stamped to match.  The glue on the top two notes was still wet when I took this picture, but will dry clear and won’t be noticeable.

Serendipity Stamps Challenge #10

Here I am – still awake – with one more challenge! lol  You, too, can join in the fun! Just click on the following image –

Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog

Here is my card for this week’s challenge –

Image

I stamped Serendipity’s  Chrysanthemum in Hero Arts Shadow Lilac on Neenah Solar White cardstock, multiple times, to create the background.  Then, I cut and dry embossed (Spellbinders M-bossibilities Patchwork) vellum to put over the stamped image to soften it.  The sentiment is also from one the Serendipity stamp sets.  I stamped a second-generation image on the tag before stamping the sentiment over it.  The ribbon is from papermart.com.  The self-adhesive pearls are from Recollections.

I love to read your comments! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs!

Moxie Fab World’s Wonder of Watercolor

Hello all!  Today I have two cards for you, which I am entering in the Moxie Fab World  Wonder of Watercolor Challenge (http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2013/04/the-wonder-of-watercolor-challenge.html)! I was very excited about doing this challenge as it allowed me to get out my Twinkling H2O’s and play with them!    In my first card – which I call my “empty nester’s card” – I created the background with two stamps and two watercolors.  One thing I really like about the H20’s is that where the color “puddles”, it gives the impression of depth and shading. I love the sentiment as it reflects what we should hold on to as our children go out into the world on their own – our memories of them!

Image

I absolutely love all the shine of Twinkling H2o’s!  Although my fingers were itching to put some embellishments on the card, I really wanted the background paper to shine, so to speak. 🙂

Here is a Sympathy card – also made with Twinkling H2O’s.  I chose this stamp for sympathy as it has the appearance of reverence to me – as if the flowers are bowed in prayer.

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger Challenge

Yes, I know – today is Wednesday! But, it’s not too late to join in on this fantastic challenge! The trigger this week is Magical Magnolias –

I don’t know where Cath finds all this great inspiration! I just know I am glad to be getting her updates! So here is my take on it – the first picture doesn’t really show all the “shine” on this card, so I added a second picture of the card at an angle.                                                                                                                       Image                                                                           Image
